16 Soul-Touching Songs

There’s something about music that can reach us in ways nothing else can. A single lyric, the right melody at the right moment—it can calm anxiety, stir hope, bring tears, or lift your eyes back to God when you’ve felt too weary to look up.
Does anyone know what I mean? Does a song come to mind right away?
In honor of the 16th anniversary of Faithful Workouts, I wanted to share something deeply personal: 16 worship songs that have carried me, challenged me, and drawn me closer to God over the years.
Each of these songs holds a special place in my heart, tied to real moments—both joyful and heartbreaking. One of them, “16,” was a song God used to comfort me on one of the hardest days of my life—the day I learned that a friend’s husband had taken his own life. I’ll never forget where I was when I heard it, or the way God met me in that pain through the lyrics.
