You Can Change

I can’t stress this enough - your ability to make lasting, healthy changes isn’t about “your ability”. Think of it, 94% of fitness plans fail. Most people have the ability to change, they have the desire to change, and they even know the changes they need to make  - yet a healthy lifestyle continues to be out of reach. Why is this? What will it take for lasting change to happen?

 

Please listen to what God’s Word tells us about this, Galatians 5:16  "So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves”, My commentary on this verse goes on to say, “Being led by the Holy Spirit involves the desire to hear, the readiness to obey God’s word, and the sensitivity to discern between your feelings and His promptings. Live each day controlled and guided by the Holy Spirit, then the words of Christ will be in your mind, the love of Christ will be behind your actions, and the power of Christ will help you control your selfish desires.”

 

There is so much in this, but I want to focus on the last line - “the power of Christ will help you control your selfish desires”.  When you believe in Jesus’ death and resurrection, when you ask Him for forgiveness, and you choose to follow Him, God’s Spirit is in you. Can you just stop and take that in for a minute? God's Spirit, the Holy Spirit, is in you and wants to guide you.

 

I know God wants us to live life to the fullest, He wants us to have the energy to serve others, and He wants us to get out and experience the beauty of His creation, which means He doesn’t want you to make selfish choices that negatively affect your health.

 

Press into God.

 

Tune into His Spirit.

 

Be transformed.
