Believing He Can and Wants to Help: Lesson
The first step in our ABCs of Fitness was Ask. Today, I will introduce “B”, which is Believe.
"If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer." (Matthew 21:22). Believing is the first step in having your prayers answered. If you worry that you don't have enough faith, remember that you don't need great faith for God to hear and answer your prayers. What's important is placing your faith in a great God. It's not about the quantity of your faith but the sincerity of your belief that God will truly answer your prayer. Jesus said, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed… nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20).
The Bible also says, “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” (Mark 11:24) You must believe that God cares about you, hears your prayers, and will answer them.
In 1954, Roger Bannister set a new world record when he ran the mile in less than four minutes. No one had run a mile in that time because no one believed it was possible. Bannister simply believed it could be done. Since 1954, hundreds of athletes have accomplished a sub-four-minute mile. In fact, it has become commonplace for professional athletes because one man believed it and proved it could be done.
If a person can accomplish an amazing act like this with their own ability, imagine what you can do when you add God. Consider the limitless possibilities when you truly trust in God's plan and timing. It's not just about asking; it's about having unwavering faith that God hears you and is capable of doing exceedingly, abundantly above all you can ask or imagine. If you want to have greater faith, ask Him. Ask confidently and with great expectations!
Think about it, if you are going to ask God for something but don’t believe it will happen, why even take the time to pray about it in the first place? There is no reason to ask for something that you do not believe will happen. But if, as Jesus says, you believe that God will make it happen, it will! “Because of your faith, it will happen.” (Matthew 9:29)
Things to do:
- Continue to ask God each day for help to reach your goals.
- Believe that God will answer your prayer.
- Drink 8 glasses of water each day.
JAMES 1:5-6
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.
JAMES 4:2
You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God.
JOHN 10:10
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
1 PETER 5:7
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
