Day 17 Message: Make Room
I think most of us would say our lives feel pretty full as it is. Full calendars. Full inboxes. Full minds. And then we decide we want to add in some healthier habits and wonder why it feels hard to fit anything else in. Sometimes the real issue isn’t motivation. It’s space.
We’re really good at stacking things onto our schedules, but not always great at making room for what actually supports us. Healthy habits need margin. They need a little breathing room. Think about it like this: if your hands are already full, it’s hard to grab hold of something new. Not because you don’t want it, but because there’s nowhere for it to go.
This is why habit change often starts with letting something go. Sometimes it’s as simple as saying no to one extra commitment, spending less time on social media, or getting up a few minutes earlier. When we create space, healthy habits actually have a place to land.
Ecclesiastes reminds us that there’s “a time for everything,” and I love that because it takes the pressure off. We’re not meant to do everything all at once. Some seasons are about building. Other seasons are about releasing what no longer fits. Both are part of growth.
As you move through this habit challenge, ask yourself this simple question: What could I make space for right now? You don’t need to clear your whole schedule or change everything overnight. Just open your hands a little. Healthy habits grow best in a space that’s been intentionally made.
And sometimes, making room is the first and most important habit of all.
