DAY 10

In today's video, I talked about sugar. I don't want you to listen to the lies that say, "I could never cut back on sugar because I'm addicted." Let's go back to the ABCs that I talked about on Day 1

A - Ask God For Help

B - Believe He can help you

C- Check your motives

Spend some time thinking about the "B".  Do you believe God can help you? Do you believe nothings impossible with God? Do you believe that you can do all things through Christ, who gives you strength?

People say to me - when you're on your deathbed, aren't you going to regret missing out on all the yummy desserts. I know the answer would be, "Absolutely NOT!!!!" and it's because I know how much more I can enjoy life because of the strength and energy I feel, and no momentary dessert is better than that.

Message:
In yesterday's written message, the suggested song was “That'll Preach” by Zach Williams. The first time I heard this song it touched my soul and continues to do so every time I hear it.

I think we overcomplicate what it looks like to share our faith. We are fearful that we don't know enough, that we aren't living “holy” enough, and that we won't come up with the right words to say. In this song, the lyrics read,

My whole life is a testimony
I can't help but tell the story
Of who He is and what He's done for me
I'm born again and resurrected
He turned my mess into a message
'Cause when you're saved, called by name
Forgiven and set free, and that'll preach
Oh, that'll preach

I love the whole song, but I've put in bold the words I hope you will spend some time thinking about. Once you experience the love of God deep in your soul, sharing your faith moves from “have to” or “should” to “I get to!!”. One of the best ways to share your faith is simply by telling someone about the difference that Jesus has made in your life, because that'll preach.

Something to Think About:

"Once you were wandering like lost sheep. But now you have turned to your Shepherd, the Guardian of your souls" 1 Peter 2: 25

What does it mean to you to hear that Jesus is a "Guardian of your soul?"

Something to Listen To:

Hungry by Katherine Scott

I learned about the love and truth of Jesus when I was 40 years old. This was one of the first songs I remember hearing as a new follower of Jesus. It is still what my heart longs for.

Nutrition Tip:

If you are going out to eat, try to check the menu ahead of time and have a plan for what you'll order. Many restaurants have nutrition information available on their websites or apps. When you make a healthy selection ahead of time, you'll be less likely to order something that isn't going to nourish your body.

Remember, in the restaurant you are the customer, so don't be afraid to ask for something like, "sauce on the side please, can I have olive oil and vinegar to use as dressing for my salad..."

When I would go out to eat with my mom, there were times she would want to order a dessert. She'd say she only wanted a few bites. So when the dessert came, she had a few bites, and then we would agree to pour water over it so it wouldn't be a temptation. Some would say that is wasteful, but when you think about it, the remaining part of that dessert could go in her belly and have a negative impact on her health or go in the garbage - either way it's gone but what do you think is the healthier option?
