DAY 12

For several years, I’ve been studying what it actually takes for people to make lasting change. What I’ve learned is this: it isn’t easy, but it is absolutely possible. Change doesn’t come from quick fixes or bursts of motivation. It comes from simple, intentional choices made over time. As you listen to today’s video, I encourage you to slow down and thoughtfully consider a plan that will help you stay consistent, not just for a week, but for the long haul.

One of the biggest mistakes we make is confusing consistency with perfection. You do not have to be perfect to move toward a healthier life. An all-or-nothing mindset will only keep you stuck. When we believe that one “off” choice ruins everything, we’re far less likely to keep going and far more likely to quit altogether.

When we’re overly restrictive, it’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking, “I had a hamburger and fries for dinner (which, yes, I actually did last night), so I might as well eat a whole sleeve of Oreos (which I absolutely did not do) because I’ve already messed up today.” Instead, try shifting the thought to something like, “That was a heavier meal, so tomorrow I’ll choose foods that help me feel better.” No shame. No spiraling. Just a gentle reset. Beating yourself up only drains your motivation-self-defeating thoughts never produce lasting change.

I’ve also learned that mistakes can be some of our greatest teachers. They help us notice how our choices make us feel, and that awareness becomes fuel for better decisions next time. Growth isn’t about never messing up; it’s about learning, adjusting, and continuing forward with grace. Every healthy choice you make is a step in the right direction, and those steps truly add up.

Something to Think About:

"Dear Friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are healthy in body as you are strong in spirit." 3 John 1:2

God cares about your physical and spiritual health. He created our bodies so that they are both so important, so we should care for our bodies and our souls.

God Of Miracles by Chris McClarney

If you think it will take a miracle for you to make lasting, healthy changes, then you need to know God is in the business of doing miracles!

Nutrition Tip:

Think outside the box when it comes to breakfast. Cereal and frozen waffles... are often go-to foods for breakfast, but are not the healthiest choice. I often take my leftover vegetables from dinner the night before and put them in a pan with an egg and scramble them all together.

Breakfast is an important part of your day and can really set the course for the rest of your day. If you exercise in the morning and eat a healthy breakfast, you are setting yourself up for a day full of healthier choices.
