DAY 3
I hope you are encouraged and already feel more confident that you can truly stick with a healthier lifestyle.
In today’s video, I talk about how Diets Don’t Work! Don’t fall for the idea that diets work. They do not! Many diet plans claim to produce quick and easy weight loss. In the long term, those diets rarely work or produce lasting results. Start your healthy lifestyle by setting realistic goals. If you want to lose weight realistically, you should never lose more than 1-2 pounds a week, and even that is nearly impossible to maintain.
Instead of stepping on a scale every morning and becoming frustrated with the lack of results, get rid of the scale and start changing the way you think about what you eat and the way you move. Setting achievable goals will lead to feelings of accomplishment and a desire to continue your new path.
A study from several weight loss centers found that women who set a goal to lose a substantial amount of weight were more likely to quit. However, the women who made realistic goals were more likely to maintain their healthy lifestyle changes long-term and enjoy better health.
The good news is that improving your diet and beginning to exercise will naturally help you to get to a healthier weight and even more importantly, these changes will improve how you feel!
My suggestion is to keep your eye on the goal of getting healthier. Losing weight and improving your health can go hand in hand, but they can also take you in opposite directions. Weight loss is not always a sign of improved health.
If yo-yo dieting mentality is something that you’ve struggled with, you may want to do our “Diets Don’t Work Program” when you finish this.
You’ve got this! I am here to help if you need anything.
Something to Think About:
“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” ~ 1 Corinthians 10:31
How can this verse help you to make healthier choices?
Something to Listen To:
Set A Fire by Will Regan and United Pursuit Band
This is one of my all-time favorite songs. I hope you’ll listen and let the lyrics soak in.
Nutrition Tip:
So many people struggle to make time to cook healthy meals. I get this because life can be busy. The thing is, you really are what you eat, so it’s important that you fuel your body with what it needs to function best. What I do so often is cook once and then make several quick meals from what I cooked. For example, if I make chicken, quinoa, broccoli, and a salad for dinner, I will make extra. For breakfast, I will use the broccoli and quinoa, mix in an egg, and scramble it. For lunch, I will have a salad with chicken on it. For dinner, I will make chicken fajitas. It saves so much time to meal plan like this. Watch this episode of our cooking show The Fresh Table called Multiply Your Meal
