DAY 8
In today's video, I talk about the importance of being grounded in our true identity. This can be tricky because so many people are telling us who we should be.
The good news is there is one place you can go to discover your Truest Identity - The Bible. Doesn't it make sense to go to the One who created you to find out who you really are? I've included something for you to read (out loud is ideal) each morning until these Truths settle into your heart and the Truth of what God says about you becomes your Truth.

We often miss out on being able to walk in our true identity because we look in the mirror and don't like what we see. I get it, it can be way too easy to look at yourself and start to find fault in every little wrinkle and every part of our body that we want to change. Honestly, there are things you can focus on to help you embrace body positivity and see your own unique beauty.
One powerful way to feel better about your body involves simply shifting your perspective. Instead of focusing on how your body looks, you can feel grateful for what your body can do. It’s a challenging concept to grasp in a culture where beauty standards are impossibly high, but instead of worrying about whether your body looks “good enough,” you can focus on all the amazing things it does for you every single day.
As I've aged, the skin on my thighs has more crinkles to it. At times, it resembles an alligator. But when I notice my mind drifting to that negative thought, I remember that what matters is that underneath that skin are legs that get me where I want to go and help me every day of my life.
One last thing to encourage you to focus on your true and beautiful identity is that research shows that people who dislike their bodies are less likely to get fit. Taking steps to improve your body image can help you feel good about yourself, which will increase your ability to do the next right thing to improve your health.
Try some of the following to help boost your body image:
- Exercise
- Appreciate what your body can do
- Do something kind for yourself
- Surround yourself with positive people
- Stop comparing yourself to others, especially models
- Wear clothes you like, and that fit you well
- Look in the mirror and say aloud the things you like about yourself
If you struggle to love yourself, I highly recommend doing our "Love Yourself Healthy Program" after the Kickstart program.
Something to Think About:
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." You may have read this verse before from Philippians 4:13, but do you really believe it?
Something to Listen To:
Jesus Music by Cain (Ok, this song is just so fun to dance around to)
Nutrition Tip:
Pay attention to the amount of added sugar you are eating. Read the food labels so you become aware of the items that are high in sugar. 4 grams of sugar = 1 tsp. I would love for you to work your way down to eating no more than 24 grams (6 tsp) of added sugar each day. If you realize you are eating way more than 24 grams, don't worry, the recipes included in our program are loaded with flavor but include minimal sugar. You really can enjoy food without added sugars! If you are struggling with Sugar Cravings, check out our "Victory Over Your Sugar Cravings Program" when you finish this.
